​In 1918 J.A. Fielden sold the Glatton Hall Estate (part of his 6,000 acre Holmewood Hall Estate bought in 1902) to a local syndicate, who immediately arranged its sale by a London firm of actioneers.  The auction catalogue gives an interesting view of the village as it then existed and the majority of the buildings are little changed
